2022 Lighting a New Path: Photonics-Roadmap-2022-Global-Opportunities.pdf
The South Australian Government commissioned international experts to develop a roadmap for the photonics industry in 2016: Lighting the Way. The intervening years have seen new technological developments, changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the rise of critical technologies, resulting in the sector growing from 800 to approximately 1,500 jobs.
This updated roadmap – Lighting a New Path: global opportunities for the photonics industry in South Australia – outlines new opportunities for the industry to grow, accelerate South Australia’s leadership in this important area, and contribute to positive economic growth.

PHOTONIC AND QUANTUM TECHNOLOGIES IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND
2020 Industry Report: ANZOS2020Lighting Economic Growth.pdf
ANZOS has commissioned a report on the state of the Photonics industry in Australia and New Zealand by an independent consultant. The data was gathered over a six month period in the latter half of 2019 and the formal release of the report will be on 28th July at 1200 AEST in conjunction with a webinar discussing the key findings of the report which shows that the sector contributes over $5.4BN, and employs 12,000 people in over 500 companies.
2024 Industry Report: ANZOS2024-Photonic and Quantum Technologies in Au and NZ 2024 Industry Report (1).pdf
This report covers revenue generated from the direct manufacture of photonic and quantum technologies components, goods and services in Australia and New Zealand. The financial data was updated in November 2023 based on the last full fiscal year reported by then (i.e. ending late 2022 to early 2023). Revenues from end-market systems or services are not included. A substantial number of new companies (810) have been identified and added since the analysis undertaken in 2019 and these account for most of the growth. This is typical in markets where sector surveys are relatively new. Most of the companies are small start-ups.
